Garnet MacPherson

A Master Boat Builder from Wallace, NS, who has built many fine fishing boats, dories and punts over the years. Garnet MacPherson is featured at the museum's viewing room. Sadly we lost Garnet this year he will be missed but always remembered at the NFM.

Harry Falconer

Harry Falconer, Toney River, getting a drink from the water pump.

Sam MacMaster

The Silver Bullet, pictured in Caribou Harbour was built by SamMacMaster from Braeshore. This boat was one of the fastest fishing boats for many years.

Raymond Falconer

Everett Robertson

Everett Robertson was a boat builder from Murray Harbour, PEI, who built a large number of fishing boats around the Northumberland Strait.

Alex Falconer

Alex Falconer is pictured at at home on Caribou Island, who has also built many fishing boats.

Sonny MacDonald

Sonny MacDonald, from Lismore NS, is pictured holding his albino crab he and his son, Jason MacDonald, gave to the Museum. Visit the museum to see the amazing colour!

Jackie Rankin

Jackie Rankin, a well known fisherman from Pictou Island. His parents were Lauchie and Rita Rankin from Pictou.

A well known fisherman and lighthouse keeper from Pictou Island, Jack "Happy" MacDonald.

Pictou Island

Bill Derby

Well known boat builder Bill Derby from Murray Harbour, P.E.I. in his boat shop. Bill's history of boat building is featured at the museum.

Vincent Turple

A Pictou Island fisherman, boat builder and boat racer, Vincent Turple Sr. had many sucesses with the "Love Boat", "Love Boat II & III" at the Lobster Carnival boat races held each summer in the Town of Pictou.

Lloyd MacCallum

A fisherman, smack operator and a great friend to everyone who knew him. Lloyd passed away this year, 2006, at a much too young age. Lloyd was the son of Mr & Mrs Calvin & Mary MacCallum. He will be sadly missed but always remembered.

Mr. & Mrs Wilson Langille

Wilson Langille fished for many years out of River John & Cape John. Picture is taken on Ronnie Sutherland's boat (grandson) from Toney River, NS.

Harry Stright

Harry was a fisherman and a well known smack operator on the Northumberland Strait for many years. Harry was from Murray Corner New Brunswick, and passed away in 2000. Harry was the son of Less, brother to James, and the father of Sheldon. Lawerence Trenholm was also one of his helpers.

John Grant

Pictou Island Turn of the Centry

This rare photo of a pond on Pictou Island shows boats being soaked in the spring to tighten up the planks, before the lobster season starts. Photo taken around 1900. Donated by Albert Mac Callum.
